The club was designed to create an environment where students can observe and gain experience in the field of Sports Medicine. All sports medicine club student aides must be American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, and AED certified, must attend a mandatory summer sports medicine camp, and must pass proficiencies before assisting in the athletic training facility.
While maintaining a 3.0 GPA, student aides will gain knowledge in anatomy and physiology, acute injury management, relate injuries to the demands of sport, assist with immediate care of first aid, observe and understand rehabilitation techniques athletes perform through basic rehabilitation exercises, observe the applications of modalities and understand the effectiveness of each, and assist with general procedures during games and practices. Students may also assist with documentation of injuries including, but not limited to: injury assessments, injury treatments, rehabilitation programs, etc.
